Development Associate

Expect Miracles Foundation’s mission is to rally the financial services industry and beyond to invest in life-saving cancer research while advancing the financial and emotional health of people impacted by cancer. Expect Miracles Foundation is currently seeking a Development Associate to join our small, hardworking team to help advance our mission to improve the lives of people impacted by cancer. This person will be responsible for securing event sponsors and managing relationships with those sponsors, developing and managing relationships with individual donors, and providing support around all the Foundation's fundraising efforts.

This position is perfect for someone with prior experience working in a fundraising role, who is goal-driven, personable, and willing to learn within an organization with a small staff. This person will report to the Managing Director of Stewardship and work collaboratively with colleagues on the programs, events, and communications teams.

Specific responsibilities will include:

-Securing event and campaign sponsorships and maintaining relationships with sponsors

-Coordinating the virtual year-end fundraising campaign

-Outreach to attendees/donors after each event

-Managing communications and maintaining relationships with individual donors

-Gift management, including tracking offline donations and mailing hard copy thank you letters as needed

-Providing support to remote volunteers participating in peer-to-peer online fundraising

-Helping to coordinate or support virtual events as well as onsite fundraising efforts at in-person events

-Engaging in other assorted fundraising-related tasks, as needed.

 

Qualifications:

-Minimum of 3 years of experience in a fundraising role

-Excellent interpersonal skills and the ability to interact comfortably and confidently with Board members, program alumni and volunteers, and individual donors

-Experience working with Excel a must; experience with Salesforce a plus; experience in the financial services industry a bonus

-Excellent written and verbal communication skills

-Demonstrated ability to work independently and as part of a team

Social Media & Marketing Associate 

Expect Miracles Foundation is currently seeking a Social Media & Marketing Associate to join its small, hardworking team and help advance its mission to improve the lives of people impacted by cancer. This person will be responsible for managing our digital presence, including creation of a social media strategy that a) communicates our story effectively and b) actively engages our online communities.

Expect Miracles Foundation is a national, Boston-based nonprofit organization that provides funding for innovative cancer research as well as support to young adults who are struggling financially because of cancer. We provide an entrepreneurial environment where all team members’ thoughts can be heard and can make a meaningful impact.

This position is perfect for someone who is creative, proactive, and is interested in pursuing a career in communications, social media, digital marketing, or a related field. Working in a team environment, this person will work with both events and program staff.

Responsibilities include:
-Building and managing Expect Miracles Foundation’s online brand and communications across existing social media channels (Facebook, Instagram, Twitter, and LinkedIn) as well as new channels, including content creation, ongoing optimization, and analytics;
-Evaluating, engaging, and increasing audience/followers across social media platforms;
-Creating ad hoc/ongoing campaign reports;
-Designing consistent and effective messages, marketing materials, email blasts, and online campaigns to represent and promote Expect Miracles Foundation and its fundraising events;
-Collaborating with events and program staff to develop creative and compelling communication strategies for donors;
-Attending in-person fundraising and stewardship events for onsite social media;
-Occasional content updates to website, including (at minimum) monthly blog posts;
-Evaluating emerging technologies; and
-Providing thought leadership and perspective for adoption where appropriate.

Qualifications:
-Experience in strategic communications, journalism, marketing, or related field;
-Highly creative with experience in identifying target audiences and devising digital campaigns that engage, inform, and motivate;
-Strong ability to manage projects independently;
-Excellent written and verbal communication skills;
-Flexibility, attention to detail, and a demonstrated ability to multitask;
-Graphic design skills are a bonus.

Events Assistant

Expect Miracles Foundation is currently seeking an Events Assistant to join its small, hardworking team to help advance its mission to improve the lives of people impacted by cancer. This person will assist with all our events, in-person and virtually, throughout the year.

Expect Miracles Foundation’s mission is to rally the financial services industry and beyond to invest in life-saving cancer research while advancing the financial and emotional health of people impacted by cancer. The Foundation plans, executes and manages all aspects of high-end networking events for top tier financial institutions and executives.

This position is perfect for someone who is interested in learning about planning and executing fundraising events. Expect Miracles Foundation provides an entrepreneurial environment where your thoughts can be heard and you can make a huge impact. This position has a great opportunity for growth within the organization.

We are looking for someone creative, organized, and energetic whose responsibilities will include:

-Assisting with the implementation and planning of Expect Miracles Foundation’s annual events, which bring anywhere from 200-600 people together and raise $1,000,000+ 

*East Coast Golf Classic (Golf – Boston, MA)
*Atlantic Coast Golf Classic (Golf – New York, NY)
*Wine & Spirits Event (Gala – Boston, MA)
*Samfund Annual Celebration (Gala – virtual)
*Expect Miracles in Manhattan (Gala – New York, NY)
*Expect Miracles Distance Challenge (Virtual Fundraiser) 

-Soliciting auction items for special events, including cold-calling and proposal writing
-Assisting with on-site event logistics of events, including event setup and breakdown
-Assist Events Manager and other colleagues as needed
-Attending occasional night and weekend meetings and events
-Attending cornerstone events and young professional events
-Ability to travel occasionally for events

Minimum Job Requirements:

-Bachelor's degree  or equivalent
-1 to 3 years experience in an office environment
-Outgoing, friendly and helpful personality
-Demonstrated passion for our cause
-Excellent writing abilities
-Proven project management skills; comfortable juggling multiple projects and priorities, and working long hours when needed for events
-Positive attitude and quick learner
-Terrific work ethic and a keen eye for detail
-Open to new ideas and influences and quick to react to changing requirements
-Ability to work independently and take initiative while collaborating within a small team
-Excellent customer service ability 
-Aptitude for technology, including MS Office, social media, and Macintosh computers
