International Volunteer Day

In honor or International Volunteer Day, all of us at Expect Miracles Foundation would like to express our sincere gratitude for all of our dedicated volunteers. From helping out at events to aiding us in grant reviews, our volunteers are integral to what we do, and how we do it—today and every day.

To celebrate the day, we want to spotlight one of our cherished volunteers—Jeff Kenney!

Check out our Q+A with Jeff to hear about his volunteer experiences and why he’s part of our Expect Miracles family.

Q: How long have you been volunteering for Expect Miracles Foundation?

Since 2019.

Q: What inspired you to volunteer for Expect Miracles?

I have supported the Foundation since before 2010, participating in the East Coast Classic, Wine and Spirits, and other events. Ken Starr, my friend and co-worker, was my initial inspiration, but it only took one event to see the impact EMF makes.

Q: What do you find most rewarding about volunteering for the Foundation?

I love seeing friends and former co-workers and customers at the events while having fun raising funds for an incredible cause. Hearing from the speakers at various events and interacting with the entire EMF team is always inspiring.

Q: What does the mission of Expect Miracles Foundation mean to you?

Like many, cancer has caused pain, loss, and suffering in my family. Knowing that my participation contributes to the amazing research and helps to provide needed funds to families battling cancer always reminds me that together, we are the hope.

Q: Is there a favorite memory you have of volunteering at one of the Foundation's events or fundraisers? Tell us!

I'm not sure I can list one! But hearing Frank Heavey, Maggie Dombrowski, and Mary Keenan talk about their personal tragedies and triumphs in the fight against cancer are at the top!

Q: Aside from feeling good about supporting the cancer community, what are some other benefits of volunteering that you've enjoyed?

Without exception, the people I have met and have become friends with through Expect Miracles represent some of the best humans on the planet. The energy the EMF community creates in unison to beat this horrible disease is inspiring.

Q: What would you say to someone else who is considering volunteering for the Foundation?

What are you waiting for!?
